How to Spot a Fake or Untrustworthy Reader Online: What to Look For

With so many psychic and spiritual readings available online, it can be difficult to know what you are actually buying. Beautiful branding, thousands of reviews, and convincing descriptions do not necessarily tell you how a reading is created.

Here are a few things I would look at before booking.

Look at the Price — and What Is Promised

Price alone does not determine quality. But some offers simply do not make sense from a time perspective.

A reading promising thousands of characters for a few cents or two or three euros, for example, would be extremely difficult to produce individually with genuine human attention.

Remember that you are not only paying for the minutes you spend reading or listening. A personal reading can involve preparation, intuitive work, writing or recording, reviewing, and delivery.

A low price is not automatically a red flag. An implausible combination of extremely low pricing and extremely high promises is.

Consider How the Reading Is Delivered

Personally, I would be more inclined to choose an audio or video reading over a written reading — unless the listing gives me a clear impression that the text is genuinely created by the reader.

Written readings can now be generated or heavily assisted by AI, making it difficult to know how much individual work went into them.

Audio and video can give you more insight into the person behind the reading and whether the experience feels genuinely personal.

Look Beyond Reviews and Sales Numbers

Thousands of reviews can be reassuring, but they are not proof of quality.

Read several reviews and look for patterns. Are they specific and individual, or unusually short and repetitive? Do the same names appear frequently?

The content of reviews tells you more than the number alone.

Look at the Person Behind the Reading

Personally, I would be cautious about obviously AI-generated portraits, impossibly perfect faces, or exaggerated mystical imagery designed to create an instant impression of psychic authority.

I would rather see a real person who is comfortable showing who they are and explaining how they work.

A website or live reading option can also give you additional insight into the person and their approach. They are not requirements for a genuine reader, but transparency is valuable.

Be Careful With Certainty and Fear

Be cautious around guaranteed outcomes, exact predictions, or claims presented as absolute fact.

The same applies when a reading creates fear that leads directly to another paid service — for example, being told you have a curse or blocked energy that needs to be removed.

A responsible reader should not need to create fear or dependency in order to sell you something.

Does the Reading Actually Feel Personal?

Finally, pay attention to whether the reading seems genuinely connected to you.

If you are deeply unhappy with a situation but receive nothing except reassurance that everything will work out exactly as you hope, ask yourself whether you are receiving insight or simply confirmation.

Intuitive work does not have to be negative. But genuine guidance should leave room for perspectives that may challenge your expectations.

What I Look For

If I were choosing an intuitive reader online, I would look for:

A real person — transparent about who they are and how they work.

A realistic offer — the price, length, and promised amount of work make sense together.

Individual attention — the reading feels created for you rather than generated from a formula.

Honest boundaries — no guaranteed outcomes, fear-based selling, or pressure to keep purchasing.

I use AI-assisted tools myself when I need help expressing myself clearly in English, as it is not my first language. But I never use AI to create or generate my intuitive readings. The intuitive work itself is always done personally by me.
